 SSB net

• Thursdays
• 8:00 P.M.
• 28.33333 MHz
• This is an informal social net, with a to discuss random topics and ask what each participant is doing. The net is on a “Technician friendly” frequency, where Techs can use SSB. It is open to all hams and we always welcome new participants.
• The purpose of this net is to encourage more activity on 10 meters

 

Digital net

• Thursdays which are an odd number day of the month (for example, there was a digital net on September 9, 2021, but there was not a digital net on September 2, 2021)
• 9:00 P.M.
• 28.11111 MHz (this is the frequency to set your radio)
• The net starts on RTTY 45, then we try two other modes in FLDIGI, such as Hellscriber or PSK31.
• The purpose of this net is to encourage more usage of the non-FT8 digital modes, such as Hellscriber, PSK31, Olivia, and Domino.
• Net participants need to have FLDIGI setup on the computer used to control the radio.

 

If you successfully have FT8 running on your radio and computer, then all you need to do is install FLDIGI on your computer and do the setup described in the FLDIGI introduction document.

 

I am only using a dipole antenna on 10 meters, and most of the other net participants only are using dipoles or end-fed antennas, so most of the time our check ins are a 8 mile radius from Needham. But we have had a check in from a ham in Billerica with a beam. When 10M has opened we have had check ins from Ohio and Newfoundland. I have a high noise level at my house, so sometimes I drive to hill in Natick and run the SSB net from my car, using a hamstick antenna.
